Superior Carrying the Load for Construction of 30" Slurry

June 18, 2009

The project was for a gold mining operation near Cripple Creek, Colorado. The pipelines constructed were a 30” slurry line for the product and a 24” water line back up the mountain to the mining location. The pipecarrier was constructed on a D6XL dozer tractor with 30” lower cradles having 24” upper cradles. The pipecarrier was utilized to carry pipe and unload along the ROW due to very narrow width of the ROW. Once the pipe was unloaded, the D6XL could easily turn around within the confines of the ROW space and travel back to the loading area. Contractor was Schmueser & Associates, Inc. located in Rifle, Colorado.

Additionaly: Pipe was unloaded at the lower staging area with a Superior SVL90 vacuum lift and the pipecarrier transported the pipe up the ROW where it was unloaded with another SVL90 vacuum lift. Both vacuum lifts were attached to a CAT330 excavator. Only one suction pad per machine was utilized due to the 24-32” suction pads being able to handle both sizes of pipe.
